Day 1 – Nov 29th
Kathmandu
We will start by introducing you to the event team. You’ll meet the crew that will be supporting you on the adventure and have an opportunity to ask any final questions about the days ahead. We will also do a gear check and an event briefing. While in Kathmandu our team will be able to arrange for you to rent or purchase any additional equipment you may need. The day concludes with a traditional welcome dinner and meet and greet with fellow participants.
Day 2 – Nov 30th
Transit to Jiri by private jeeps (6-8hrs)
An early start will see us departing Kathmandu in convoy, travelling through the city outskirts and into the rural area beyond. Along the way we will stop for refreshments and lunch, all the while you’ll be able to enjoy the evolving landscapes as we head for Jiri.
Jiri, which lies about 190 kilometers from Kathmandu, is a small town located in the Dolakha district of Nepal. Situated at an altitude of about 1,950 meters (6,400 feet) above sea level, it is surrounded by mountains, forests and rice terraces. Known as the starting point for the classic route to Mount Everest, almost all the Everest expeditions in the past, including those led by famous climbers John Hunt and Edmund Hillary passed through here.
Here we will do a final gear prep and briefing for stage one, followed by an early night.
